Inner Chrysalis

Helloo, just a quick note to say, “Hi” and let you know what’s coming up with Happy Arts!

I have been thinking a lot about what it means to be creative. So often we are looking for results and proof and validation. So often we look to the end result to see that we matter or that our work is worthy. Often we focus on the butterfly and forget the previous quiet chrysalis stage. Some stages are not insta- ready, but are no less meaningful. I write this as a reminder to myself and to you. You matter whatever stage you are in no matter how messy or quiet, loud or measured. Please know that your light is there.

Robin and I are looking forward to hopefully seeing you at an upcoming workshop or Artsy Thursday!  The Next workshop is at The Boroughs Collective :

Monday, April 6, from 6-8. You can register on our website:

https://www.happyartsevents.com/

For the next Artsy Thursday on April 9, we would love you to bring something that inspires you- we will share what it means to you ( if you want) and we will make a little still life situation as an inspiration station

Spring Has Sprung?

Hello to our Happy Arts Peeps,

Spring has sprung?  Well,  Easter (speaking of peeps) and Passover are around the corner and that means it's true- it's spring.

I see the irises pushing their way through the snow and the song sparrows getting busy for a new batch of chirpers.  I'm feeling more energized as I drive home from work in the late afternoon, not having to turn on the headlights.

Believe it or not, Jenny and I are getting all reading to sell our wares in upcoming fairs.

AND a funny thing happened to me. I decided to sign up to put a piece of my collage, lino print art into the Worcester Art Museum art show and I dropped that piece off today.  It was WAY out of my comfort zone, and took a lot of courage for me to even sign on.  Also, I was asked to put three pieces into an art show in Northboro during Northboro's Open Studio Tours weekend this spring.  Impostor syndrome is real, my friends.  I'm learning to push through and I hope our Artsy Thursdays and classes are helping others celebrate their creativity and love their gifts.

~~Robin

We meet on Thursdays from 6-8 at Daphne's Tears at 1094 Pleasant Street. A word about this. We are ever so grateful for this small business allowing us to use their space for creativity, laughter and friendship, if you are able to, please support their cafe and our efforts with a small donation at the door or purchase a snack

STICK With It!

This past week we made paper flowers and realized sometimes things are deceptively simple looking and other times we just need to take a second to let things adhere. We just have to “stick” with it, until we get the hang of it, and sometimes we just need to keep rolling until we get to the end. If you missed what we made– check it out on social media– it was kinda fun and pretty.

Coming up this week at Daphne’s Tears we will be focused on the art of attention:attention to details, to what you’re naturally drawn to, to the little things that make life interesting and beautiful. Try some cube art and a “little” artsy craft.

Daphne’s Tears  is inviting us all to an International Women’s Day gathering that they’re  having- this Sunday afternoon-March 8th at the cafe’.  Stay tuned for special details on what will be happening - hope you can carve out some time for this!

It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more. Or maybe you have a creative project to share with the world. Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.

Warm Feet

Hellooo, hope this note finds your crafty eyes! Robin and I have been getting so excited for the upcoming fair season and teaching at many local libraries. But one of the things that gets our glow glowing in the cold of this winter season  is our socks. Yep, I said it, this winter, we hope you are finding cozy socks.

Stick with me here. I often share my history of being stuck- a stuck artist, writer, creator. While my craft room sometimes is a beautiful place; of peace and joy, other times it’s a prison. I have a tendency to overthink, obsess and let the fear of failure get the best of me.

All this even though I have support from family and friends, and a new community of Happy Artists! YOU!

Robin and I started this business to share our love of creating and a desire to spark creativity in others and to share the benefits of letting art into our hearts.

Everyone experiences doubt and fear. We want to go somewhere we haven’t–into the unknown. Sometimes we have cold feet and stay cozy. I want to encourage you here. I want to let you know it’s okay to have cold feet- but bring the cold toes - come to an Artsy Thursday! We are the socks that will warm your cold toes.

We all have cold feet sometimes– but Robin and I work very hard to ensure that we have the socks you need to warm your cold toes. We are creating a safe space for people to come and share their creativity.

Why I Love Snow

Good Morning Creative People!

I bet you raced to open this email, because you want to hear about my illustrious skiing hobby, or snow-boarding, or ice fishing skills.  Well, I have to admit, I'm not really a snow-sport kind of person.  I even have a hard time watching the winter Olympics. I love snow because sometimes we get snow that comes with a "snow day."  What snow day means to me is a free day to unleash all the creative juices, and I don't mean in a house-cleaning sort of way.

This past snow day, I made tabbouleh, lentil soup, two Artsybags, and practiced a new artsy experience which Jenny and I are offering called Kinusaiga.  The definition of Kinusaiga, straight from Google AI, is :Kinusaiga is a Japanese "no-sew" fabric art form, often called "kimono patchwork," where silk scraps from old kimonos are pressed into slits in a wooden or foam board to create intricate pictures.
